Nothing more than sharing my reality, which is usually a little bit off from everyone else's reality. It's about motherhood, school, teaching, life, growing up, growing old, and being a girl/woman/ whatever.

A good romance
I spent most of new year's weekend watching British romances: Bridget Jones' Diary, Pride and Prejudice, Love Actually. Now there is some connection here as all three have Colin Firth in them - who is not by my reckoning a man who is very attractive - or perhaps I should say pretty. I tend to like pretty men - brad pitt; prince; jose, the young leonardo dicaprio from titanic, etc. They all have pretty features - not rugged ones. But there is something about Colin Firth in the British romance that i find appealing. There is something that i find appealing in the british romance all together. Jane Austen and the like create a romance with hints and suggestions. You know that Darcy likes Elizabeth because of the way he stares at her across the dance floor, and flexes his hand when she touches it to get into a carriage. And it is those small glimpses of desire that makes it so good. I'd much rather have a story where love is hinted at and finally confirmed than the let's get naked in the first 20 minutes sort of thing. American love stories from the 40's and 50's weren't much different. A Love Affair (the movie that was in Sleepless in Seattle) was on that weekend, and it was very similar. Though not nearly as well done as Jane Austen's stories. Perhaps the lack of overt affection appeals to me - the fact that there is no need to be pawing all over each other (pda-s really are not my favorite thing to view) to know that there is a genuine love and affection (which aren't really the same thing). I don't really know what it is -- but if you haven't watched any of the Jane Austen movies - you should.
